William Buckler's 9 volumes on the larvae of the butterflies and moths represented a monumental feat of artistry over nearly 30 years. Published by the Ray Society in 1899, Volume 9 covers the known British species of Deltoides, Pyrales, Crambites, Tortrices, Tineae and Pterophori. Some of the nomenclature has since changed, but the species and life-cycle descriptions and the 17 plates of hand-coloured illustrations remain invaluable, although they are rarely seen.
Pisces Conservation are delighted to release this volume in electronic form, completing the set of 9 volumes of Buckler's work. Vol. 9 is available on CD, for Windows PCs and Macs, with fully searchable text and hyperlinks for ease of navigation.
